Historically, AFCC has produced more automotive fuel cell stacks than any other company. Today, AFCC fuel cell powered cars and buses operate in global fuel cell vehicle demonstration programs – and logged over 3,000,000 miles – in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, China, Singapore and Iceland. These real-world demonstration and evaluation programs are providing vital feedback to our development team prior to the mainstream commercialization of automotive fuel cell vehicles.

While today’s fuel cell products offer the best balance of cost, performance, robustness and durability available, the next generation AFCC fuel cell will demonstrate the attributes that consumers expect within commercial vehicles – fast acceleration, high power, good range, fast refuelling times, and improved freeze start.

AFCC works closely with our sister company, NuCellSys, who develops and designs the fuel cell system components that supply the fuel cell stacks with hydrogen and air, component and software development, as well as system validation and integration.

For commercial feasibility of vehicular fuel cells, the main focus for AFCC is cost reduction and high volume manufacturing development
